The Birmingham 65's Softball Team is a tournament team that travels around the Southeast. We were the Tournament Champions at the Peach State Senior Classic in the 65 and over Silver Division at Marietta, GA on June 28-29, 2002. We placed fourth in the National Softball Association Men's Senior World Series in Cullman, AL on July 26-28, 2002, in the 65 and over division. The local newspaper, The Cullman Times, had an article including the team picture in their Saturday edition on July 27, 2002. Our first game was against the Pensacola Riptide (now Ed's Aluminum), whose roster included Jake Wood, a former Major League player for the Detroit Tigers from 1961-1967. His pictures, then and now, are below. His batting form and production is still outstanding. A home run is not unusual for him.

I had surgery for a torn rotator cuff on February 4, 2003. That, combined with neuropathy in my lower legs and a compressed disk in my back, seems to have brought an end to my softball playing. At least for now.

There have been visitors since July 27, 2002.
