My Birmingham Postcard book was originally printed in December 1999. It was re-printed in 2001 and then again for the third time, with a new cover and title, in 2003. The fourth printing was released in March 2005. It was then printed for the fifth time and that edition was released in January 2006. It seems that most everyone that purchased my new Panama City Postcard book (released in October 2005) also wanted a copy of my Birmingham Postcard book. My postcard books are available locally at Vulcan Park Gift Shop, The Little Professor, Barnes & Noble, Jonathan Benton Booksellers, Books & Company at Brookwood Village, UAB Bookstore, Walmart & Sam's Stores, and other fine bookstores in the Birmingham area.
I had several book signings at the Vulcan Park Gift Shop. The first was for Vulcan's 100th birthday celebration on June 6, 2004 and again on June 4, 2006 for Vulcan's 102nd birthday bash, which included both books! See picture below.
You can find it also at the Gardendale Antique Mall in Gardendale and at Touch Of The Past Antique Shop in Jemison, AL. The publisher is Arcadia Publishing and it can be ordered by phone from them by calling (toll free)1-888-313-BOOK. The ISBN No. is 0-7385-0333-9. On the Internet it is available at Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Books A Million, and Amazon.Com. You can search the Internet sites for "Birmingham Postcards" or by the new title, "Birmingham in Vintage Postcards", but the best way is to search by ISBN No. which is 0738503339.

Birmingham, Alabama was developing during the "golden age" of postcards, which was from around 1900 to the start of World War I. United States postal records indicate that 577,777,798 postcards were mailed in 1907 when the population of the U.S. was only 88,700,000. This number does not include the huge quantities of postcards placed in albums or saved and never mailed.
Through the magic of postcards, this exciting period was captured for us with scenes from everyday life including workplaces, residences, downtown buildings, neighborhoods, schools, churches, hotels, hospitals, industrial sites, public buildings, parks, and more. This book features these scenes through around 200 carefully selected antique view postcards from my personal collection of over 3,000 early Birmingham area postcards. It is the only all postcard book ever written about the early history of Birmingham.
My new book, Birmingham-Then & Now, will be released soon and can be pre-ordered along with my other two books at the same time at any of the following links:
